Learning Objectives

1. Define the woonerf concept, and provide distinction between it and a shopping street.
2. Discuss how woonerven are used to create efficient use of space and improved quality of life.
3. Review the different components of a woonerf, and provide existing examples to show how things should, and should not, be done.
4. Identify sections of Ontario’s Accessibility Standard that apply to woonerven, and detail how paver and slab systems can be properly designed to meet these standards.
