The President’s Reception and Celebration of Excellence event took place on Thursday, May 23, at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre. The evening began with OAA President
Settimo Vilardi's reception, where guests enjoyed drinks and mini-food stations inside the Niagara Falls Convention Centre. Attendees were treated to a lively atmosphere as they mingled and networked, celebrating the achievements of the year.
Following the reception, the Celebration of Excellence event recognized the outstanding contributions in architecture and design within the stunning setting of the venue. Community builder and iconic MuchMusic TV personality
Erica Ehm emceed the evening, sharing her inspiring experiences in innovation and reinvention. Her presence added a special touch to the celebration.
The event honoured the 10 recipients of this year’s
Design Excellence Award winners, including the
Best Emerging Practice, which was presented to
Lanescape Architecture.
Three
special awards were also presented on the night.
DIALOG Ontario Inc., in collaboration with
Smoke Architecture, received the
People’s Choice Award for the
Centennial College A-Building Expansion in Toronto. The
Michael V. and Wanda Plachta Award was presented to
MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects (MJMA) and
Raimondo + Associates Architects for the
Neil Campbell Rowing Centre in St. Catharines. MJMA also received the
Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Design Excellence in Architecture for the
Churchill Meadows Community Centre and Sports Park in Mississauga.
