This five-hour, immersive experience designed to enrich architects' understanding of the Indigenous culture and its interwoven history with the Niagara region. This session offers a unique opportunity to learn from Indigenous guides and experts about the profound connections between the land, its people, and the built environment.
This educational session includes a visit to the Landscape of Nations Memorial, a guided exploration of the Niagara Parks Power Station and Tunnel, and concludes with an Indigenous-themed lunch at Table Rock House Restaurant.

Learning Objectives
1. Gain a deeper appreciation for the Indigenous perspective on land stewardship and how this philosophy can inform sustainable architectural practices.
2. Understand the historical significance of treaties and the pivotal roles played by First Nation allies, particularly during the War of 1812, and how these events have shaped the cultural landscape.
3. Learn about the integration of Indigenous themes and narratives in the design of new landmarks, such as the Niagara Parks Power Station and Tunnel, and how architecture can pay homage to Indigenous heritage.
