Go back in time to discover the fascinating and important history of the underground railroad in the Niagara Region. Hear the history and stories from your tour guide. See Harriet Tubman’s first freedom home and place of worship, along with other landmark locations and freedom crossing points like the suspension bridge over the Niagara River, which played a key role in shuttling tens of thousands of African-American people to freedom.
You will visit Niagara Falls with various sites along the way, as well as St. Catharines (one of the most famed areas for the freedom-seekers), followed by a visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake to experience the historic and beautiful 17th century village that played a pivotal role in the lives of the freedom-seekers living there.
Activity level is Moderate; comfortable footwear recommended. Please also bring sun protection and dress for the weather conditions. This tour is not wheelchair-accessible
