Dynamic Earth, Science North’s sister attraction, is a hands-on science centre featuring one-of-a-kind earth science and mining experiences, including a world-class underground mining tour. Put on a hard hat and descend seven storeys underground to walk in the footsteps of Sudbury's miners. Discover the evolution of mining in the region, from the turn of the century to modern mining through the demonstration mine.
Dynamic Earth is also the home of the Big Nickel! Sudbury’s iconic attraction, this exact replica of the 1951 Canadian nickel was built in 1964 and symbolizes the wealth the city has contributed to the Canadian economy through nickel production. The base enables the public to walk around and under the 13,000-kg coin, with barrier-free access. The perfect place for a selfie!
Then it is time for a stop at 46 North. Discover some of the finest craft beer in the north, brewed in Sudbury! Find locally inspired flavours and seasonal brands sure to impress. Their beers include unique flavours like Four Legs Raspberry Berliner Weisse and Creamsicle Cream Ale. Sample a flight in the tasting room and enjoy a locally made pretzel.
NOTE:
Closed toe shoes are required and jackets are recommended for the Dynamic Earth tour.
The underground tour contains flashing lights, which necessitates a seizure warning. Participation in the underground tour is optional.
