TIME: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Deep Dive into Rainscreens Session 4 delves into the second most important performance aspect of a rainscreen wall system: ventilation.
RDH Principal and Senior Building Science Specialist, Dr. John Straube, will explore the benefits of ventilation for common types of cladding and review practical applications for achieving vented/ventilated rainscreen wall designs. John will explain ventilation concepts ranging from the fundamental need for ventilation to more advanced concepts like pressure equalization and compartmentalization.
You will learn:
• The difference between vented and ventilated air gaps.
• The design impacts of including or not including an air gap within a wall design.
• Building materials and methods that create effective air gaps.
• How the concepts of pressure moderation/equalization and compartmentalization apply to the design of air gaps.
This session is designed for architects, designers, contractors, product/system manufacturers, and students. No pre-existing knowledge is required.
*Attendance for 50+ minutes is required to receive attendance credit and a certificate of attendance via email. Attendees must submit their request for continuing education attendance reporting during event registration; no requests for reporting will be accepted outside of registration.
