TSA Technical Series | Acoustics: Construction

TIME: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM

About the session:
Good acoustic design is important in creating comfortable and healthy spaces—but design is only half the battle! Once the plans leave the drawing board, designs can lose their acoustic integrity when they go through the real-life construction process. Every element and how they come together plays a role in a space’s acoustical characteristics, so it is important that they are assembled as originally planned to make sure the initial acoustic goals are achieved. How we get there though is the real challenge.

In Part 2 of this lecture series, Kiyoshi Kuroiwa of Aercoustics Engineering Limited will build on the fundamentals of acoustic design learned in Part 1, and outline some construction-specific pitfalls and issues that can arise on sites using real-life examples. Together, we’ll dispel acoustic misconceptions, review best practices in documentation, and discuss the importance of detailing and coordination with contractors to help maintain the acoustic integrity of your designs. This lecture will link acoustic design and construction together, to make sure your spaces sound as great as they look!
