TIME: 12:00PM - 1:00PM
Advancements in smart buildings technologies are moving faster than ever before. When properly integrated, these tools can help us improve a building’s performance in a myriad of ways: from capturing data on use, to controlling lighting systems and ventilation, and automating everyday tasks that help us meet energy, technology and operational objectives. However, to be most effective and cost efficient, these technologies need to be considered early in the design process—making it critical for architects to understand the opportunities, limitations and requirements of these emerging technologies.
In this upcoming virtual lecture, Akira Jones and Kelly Henderson of HH Angus will discuss advancements in new smart buildings technologies, such as cloud computing, 5G networks, advanced IoT sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), smart lighting, and advanced Building Automation Systems. They will explore strategies for using these smart buildings technologies to add value and efficiency to the overall design, support firms’ design vision and the building’s sustainability and business goals, as well as improve the occupant experience.
During this session, participants will learn more about:
- Identifying opportunities to integrate smart buildings technology strategies into early-stage planning and design
- Using smart buildings technologies in collecting and analyzing post-occupancy building data to enhance design solutions for retrofits/renovations of existing spaces
- Employing smart buildings technologies to help support the overall sustainability of a building through improved energy efficiency
