Catalogue housing is having a comeback—and not just here in Canada, but in jurisdictions across the globe as governments of all types and levels look for ways to accelerate housing construction. And while building more housing may be their primary purpose, underlying many of these catalogues are ambitious goals of proliferating best practices in areas like sustainability, livability, and design excellence. The question is: are they working?
Join the TSA online for this international forum as speakers from Canada, Sweden, and Australia share their jurisdiction’s contemporary examples of pattern book and catalogue housing, as well as the motivations, ambitions and strategies behind them. Their presentations will be followed by a moderated panel discussion where we’ll explore the similarities and differences amongst these catalogues, including their effectiveness and limitations.
