Real Estate & Resiliency: When Policy Waivers, Insurance and Capital Set the Standard

As public policy signals on climate waver, global finance is sending a clearer message: resilience—especially climate resilience—is fundamental to real estate value.

This session explores that shift through two converging lenses. First, insurance: facing rising losses, global insurers are moving upstream—seeking greater influence over how buildings are designed, constructed, and operated to reduce risk exposure. Second, capital markets: institutional investors—from pension funds to global asset managers—are increasingly prioritizing projects that demonstrate durability, lower risk, and stable long-term performance under climate stress.

The implication is direct: resilience is no longer optional. Projects that cannot verify it may struggle to secure coverage, attract capital, or sustain value.

Join ULI Toronto as we explore how risk is being repriced in real time—and what it means for how buildings are designed, financed, and insured.
