Description
In respect of current climate action initiatives, we need to evaluate the use of our buildings. Can we pivot single-purpose buildings into buildings that are adaptable? The course will help you navigate designing events within buildings that may or may not have been constructed for this purpose (e.g., we've all attended a wedding in a barn). We will discuss options to consider an event temporary or permanent (through a change of use evaluation).

- Understand the construction requirements of the OBC and how they relate to occupancy risks.
- Understanding "temporary" from a Building Code perspective
- Introduction to the change of use requirements
- How to utilize other documents and resources
Presenters:
Megan Nicoletti, Partner, CodeNext Inc.
Megan has extensive experience with Building Code and Fire Code reviews for architects, engineers, designers, developers, and building owners. She is proficient in all scales of commercial, residential, infrastructure, transit and public sector projects, both in Canada and internationally. Megan is also an active participant in the development of numerous fire and life safety standards through UL and is a regular speaker at industry events and conferences.
