Description
This session re-examines fees from the variables of scope, value and risks as an additional tool in addition to traditional fees scale advocated by many architectural associations.
Learning Objectives
- Define scope, value and risks, in the context of the practice and business of architecture.
- Know the limitation of Fees Scales.
- Examine the complaints on “Low Fees” in the practice and business of architecture.
- Determine what is considered “Reasonable and Fair” fees in the practice and business of architecture.
Presenters:
Yew-Thong Leong, Associate Professor, Toronto Metropolitan University and Managing Director, SSG Architecture Inc.
Yew-Thong has been a practicing architect for 4 decades and is a regular speaker on professional practice topics at architectural conferences nationally and has given talks internationally.
He is a “RAIC Advisor to Professional Practice” (RAPP). As a RAPP member he sits on the RAIC’s Fees and Procurement Committee. He is the current Dean of the RAIC College of Fellows. For the OAA, Yew-Thong developed the “Fundamentals of Running a Practice”, where he also presents the module on “Marketing” and the module on “Organizational Behavior and Leadership”.
