We are all lovers of nature and the endless palate of textures that nature gives to us. The warmth that texture introduces to a room or structure cannot be matched. It lends a sense of elegance and richness wherever it is applied, charming all who experience it. From subtle knife lines to large adze-styled gouging, gorgeous textures tempt viewers to touch the surfaces and allow our senses to interpret the organic compositions of the materials. Blending the randomness of handcrafted technique with the uniformity of modern production processes allows us to provide a uniform product that has great appeal.
This session will explore the manufacturing process in creating these textured surfaces in wood, such as Adze Millwork, Burnt Wood, Sand blasting and custom textures to suit specific project needs. From doors to wall panels, columns, or any other millwork, we will see how these helped create luxurious textured finishes for high-end developments and renovation projects across North America.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the visual and tactile attributes of using textures.
- See how different effects can be created by using the same texture.
- Understand the workability and aesthetic characteristics of specific wood species for texturing applications, using wood primarily from the forests of British Columbia but can use any wood you specify.
- Learn about the installation process in applying the textured wood products into the job site.
