Description
Why has quiet become a precious commodity? Open offices promise collaboration but often deliver distraction, and remote work blurs boundaries. Presenters:
Carla Bostock, Founder, Designing Quiet Inc
Carla Bostock is the Founder of Designing Quiet Inc. and a forthcoming author on privacy pods, acoustic design, and human focus.
For nearly a decade, she has been Director of Brand and Product Design at SnapCab, a North American custom acoustic workspace manufacturer, working alongside engineers, acoustic specialists, and material manufacturers from concept through production. That position has given her a perspective that few in the design community share. She has seen what gets specified and what gets value-engineered out, what performs in a showroom and what performs in a real office, and what clients say after installation that they wish they had known before.
Designing Quiet is the platform she has built to share that knowledge openly, independent of any single manufacturer's commercial interests, through thought leadership, practical tools, and resources designed to help architects and designers make more informed decisions when specifying acoustic privacy.
Carla is based in Kingston, Ontario.
Trevor Melia, Pod Product Engineer, SnapCab
Trevor Melia leads product design and development at SnapCab. A graduate of Sheridan College's Craft and Design Furniture program, he spent six years building custom homes in and around Kingston, Ontario, before joining SnapCab.
With over 13 years at SnapCab, Trevor has worked across nearly every stage of how the company's products are made, including manufacturing, equipment design and fabrication, custom client-specified solutions, and product certifications. He has built the equipment that builds the products, taken new designs from concept to production, and guided them through certification.
Today, his focus is product design and development, including custom solutions built to client and architect specifications.
