TIME: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Session Abstract:
This presentation will speak to architects about i) overcoming challenges related to building envelope energy audits, and ii) educating the audience on how emerging technologies can help understand the gap between an expected energy consumption and actual energy consumption in the building. By utilizing artificial intelligence and infrared imaging, companies like QEA Tech can provide building envelope energy audits in a timely and efficient manner that help building owners, designers, architects and engineers understand the best approaches in targeted building envelope retrofits. With the assistance of the building envelope energy analysis, industry professionals can identify the most problematic areas in the building and develop retrofit projects that will yield the optimal return of investment. New technology can enhance architects and engineers' understanding of their buildings and help identify discrepancies between expected energy consumption from energy modeling and actual energy consumption observed in the building. New products such as the services provided by QEA Tech can help achieve energy efficient and sustainable buildings that use the optimal amount of energy.
Learning Objectives:
- Utilization of new technologies in building envelope energy audit
- Need for targeted retrofit in order to achieve an optimal return of investment and minimized building energy consumption
- Application of building envelope energy audit in calibration of building energy model
- Adaptation of sustainable building strategies in targeted retrofit
About the Speaker:
Raisa Nekhaeva, Project Manager, QEA Tech
Raisa is a building science specialist with over 5 years of industry experience. Raisa received her bachelor’s degree in Architectural Design from the UofT. She is pursuing a Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering at UofT with a research interest in the integration of building control systems and machine learning for better optimization of building energy consumption. She worked on various scale projects all across Canada including Arctic. In her current building science consultant role, she helps building owners to make a data-driven decisions about targeted retrofits to reduce carbon emissions and improve current building envelopes.
