A new chapter in our summer sketchbook—today, as a part of the OAA Summer Sketches Series, we are sharing the work of Amanda Nguyen (Architect).
The proposed addition to the existing gymnasium at the all-girls private school introduces a contemporary architectural expression that complements the original building, constructed in the 1990s. The design respects the scale, proportions, and character of the existing structure while incorporating modern materials, increased transparency, and a refined façade composition. The addition is designed to enhance functionality by providing flexible learning and athletic spaces that support the school's evolving needs. Through a cohesive integration of the new and existing structures, the addition creates a unified architectural identity while maintaining the character of the original gymnasium.
