Senior Architect in Architectural Office
DESCRIPTION
We are a planning-led architecture firm, based in downtown Toronto, and working across the country. We are seeking positive, driven, and enthusiastic people who are keen to be bold and make an impact on our world.
This is a position for an experienced, registered architect who works in the institutional sector. Familiarity with higher education is an asset. The candidate must have proven experience leading full design teams from concept to warrantee review.
Our practice is centred on a very deep front-end consultation scope that creates better design. The size of our office and the projects we do translates to broad scopes of project involvement for all staff.
Our work lies primarily in the education sector (higher education and independent schools), affordable housing, as well as other areas, such as health care.
The successful proponent will be able to work independently and lead teams on complex institutional projects. Proven experience fostering excellent consultant and client relationships and very strong project management is essential. The correct candidate will have a full range of responsibilities including conceptualization, design, coordination, mentoring, and production. Experience in higher education design, health science projects, heritage work, and sport facilities will be an asset. Several of our projects are outside Ontario. The ability to travel for short trips will also be an asset.
The successful proponent will be integrated as part of a team right away.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Seeing the big picture. From understanding the influence of a given design, to the very fact that a particular project is being funded. Implications of various approaches to communication and the broader context within which our work exists.
- Skillful at coordinating with consultants and producing accurate drawing packages and details for complex institutional projects.
- Extensive experience with current versions of Revit.
- Experience and ability to take a proactive role in all aspects of architectural projects including detailing, design, and production of institutional design and contract documents as well as construction administration
- Deep comprehension of building technology and assembly, construction methodology, and materials applications
- Experience resolving complex design issues with innovative solutions
- Very strong written and graphic communication skills
- Driver’s licence and excellent construction administration experience
- Lead projects from inception to warrantee walk-through
Salary Range $90,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience
