Mechanical Engineer Intern

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and driven Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our growing team.

This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers and design professionals on real-world building projects. The successful candidate will support the design, coordination, and documentation of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and development of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

  • Support senior engineers with calculations, system layouts, equipment selection, and technical documentation.

  • Prepare and update drawings, specifications, schedules, and reports using industry-standard software.

  • Participate in site visits and field surveys to document existing conditions and mechanical systems.

  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other project disciplines.

  • Assist in reviewing drawings and identifying potential coordination or constructability issues.

  • Support project teams in communicating with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Assist with permit, tender, and construction documentation as required.

  • Stay current with industry standards, building codes, best practices, and emerging technologies related to mechanical building systems.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mechanical design.

  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and building mechanical systems is an asset.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering or drafting software.

  • Experience with Revit MEP is considered an asset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Previous internship, co-op, or building engineering experience is considered an asset.

Salary Range $52,000 – $60,000
