Provide a brief summary of your practice experience.
25 years member of OAA, 50% of this time was working with big Architectural practices in downtown Toronto, second half was with my firm: RALLY Architects is small Architectural Practices Sole- Proprietorship, I have variety of Projects with different level & types of Architectural Services. I advocate for my clients thru Committee of Adjustment Application that requires good judgment & experience. I also have internationally experience working in UAE for many years, and that also helped me to understand the difficulties of Internationally Trained Architects.
Provide a brief summary of your previous governance experience (boards, councils, committees, advisory groups, etc.).
The Deputation to OAA council I had raised on Mar 05 2026 (with 40 Documents /2 years of preparation) is my interview & resource to this Seat, (it was sent to OAA Feb 2026). I was volunteer to OAA for 14 Year (2003 -2017) in different occasions, and I had encouraged OAA to open OAA building to public for Doorsoprn Toronto. And I had established a team of Internationally Trained Architects since 2008 and we meet twice a year for the last 18 years for; Networking, Arch Tour and to explain OAA License Process. We had met with OAA executives at OAA building in 2012.
Why are you interested in serving on Council at this time?
I love Architecture, I want to improve the low level of the Architecture of Ontario. For many many years: Ontarian Architects are excluded from the Scope of Work to many types of building permits (architects’ role are optional). And as a Small Practice, reading (Regulations, By-Laws and OAA Practice Tips) are normal habit. I know the difficulties of Arch Practices and I know how to help them. I managed to send positive comments to many documents (OAA letters) to the Government. Diversity in Councillors is important, not everyone should say (Yes) always. I must bring the Architects back. We must review and modify the priorities of OAA Council Plan every year.
What do you believe are the key challenges or priorities for Council over the next one to three years?
Because of current Economy crises and loss of businesses for the majority of members, OAA is facing critical time and many challenges ended with the disagreement of members from OAA Policy. OAA needs to protect the Public in different and new Tools; traditional tools of good Education and good Regulation did not succeed alone to protect the Public (only 20%) because Ontarian (the Public) are affected by low level of Architecture for the (Private Sector buildings). Majority of current Construction in Ontario (small Buildings Design and Architecture Services) are following the min. requirement of Building Code and do not require an Architect. Arch Act must be modified to give Ontarian Architects mandatory role in new Construction (small and large buildings).
