My name is Nasr Chamma. I am a licensed architect with OAA and NCARB-AIA in the US, and have around 18 years of diversified experience in the architectural and construction industries, working with AE firms and humanitarian organizations in North America and internationally. As part of this work, I have managed design teams on numerous small and large projects in several continents. I got master's degrees in architecture, advanced architecture and sustainable emergency architecture as well as a PhD in the same field. I have taught master students in Barcelona, Spain and have been volunteering with World Skills Canada, mentoring newcomer architects and engineers through different programs since 2021. I am also registered with OAA as a mentor, supporting members during their Internship in Architecture Program (IAP).
As part of my humanitarian work, I have supported various humanitarian organizations, including the Catholic Centre for Immigrants (CCI), Architecture for Refugees-Europe, and The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR-Jordan). With UNHCR, I contributed with designs for multiple new and existing refugee camps to improve the living conditions and quality of life for refugees in Jordan via sustainable upgrades to shelters and integration of new green and commercial spaces. These projects had an impact on approximately 130,000 people, living in 40,000 shelter units in different settlements, including Zaatari and Azraq Refugee Camps, two of the largest camps in the world.
