Provide a brief summary of your practice experience.

I am a licensed architect in Ontario and a LEED Accredited Professional, with over 20 years of international architectural experience across Canada, the United States, Pakistan, Bahrain, the UAE, and Qatar.

I established C-Architecture in 2019, an architectural practice headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, providing services across multiple Canadian provinces and the United States. Since its establishment, the firm has successfully delivered hundreds of projects across residential, commercial, institutional, hospitality, and community sectors.

My experience includes architectural design, project management, regulatory compliance, construction administration, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Beyond professional practice, I have contributed to architectural education through delivering LEED accreditation preparation courses, Revit/BIM training, and renovation-related diploma programs.

As both a practicing architect and business owner, I bring practical experience in professional responsibilities, regulatory processes, and the challenges facing architectural practices of different sizes.

Provide a brief summary of your previous governance experience (boards, councils, committees, advisory groups, etc.).

As the founder and principal of C-Architecture, I have been responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, professional accountability, and organizational development of a multidisciplinary architectural practice operating across multiple jurisdictions.

My leadership experience extends to professional education, mentoring, and community engagement. I was a member of Toastmasters International from 2010 to 2018, developing communication, public speaking, and collaborative leadership skills.

More recently, I joined the Rotary Club of Oakville and have been actively supporting the Rotary Club of Georgetown through its monthly community dinner initiatives, contributing to volunteer coordination and community service.

These experiences have strengthened my understanding of leadership, accountability, collaboration, and service. I look forward to bringing these perspectives to the OAA Council.

Why are you interested in serving on Council at this time?

After more than two decades in architectural practice, including establishing and operating my own firm, I believe this is an appropriate time to contribute more directly to the profession that has shaped my career.

I strongly believe that effective professional self-governance requires transparency, accountability, consistency, and meaningful engagement with members while maintaining the OAA's fundamental responsibility to protect the public interest.

My experience as a practicing architect and business owner has provided valuable insight into the challenges members encounter in navigating professional obligations, regulatory processes, and evolving industry expectations.

I am particularly interested in supporting governance practices that promote procedural fairness, clear communication, professional development, and confidence in the Association's regulatory responsibilities.

I see Council membership as an opportunity to listen, collaborate, contribute practical perspectives, and help strengthen the profession for current and future generations of architects.

What do you believe are the key challenges or priorities for Council over the next one to three years?

I believe Council should focus on the following priorities:

  1. Transparency and Accountability: Strengthening clear, consistent, and transparent governance practices that reinforce public and member confidence in the OAA.

  2. Procedural Fairness: Ensuring regulatory and complaints processes are proportionate, impartial, timely, and clearly distinguish professional conduct matters from contractual or commercial disputes, while fulfilling the Association's public protection mandate.

  3. Member Engagement: Improving communication and creating meaningful opportunities for architects, particularly emerging professionals and small-practice owners, to contribute their perspectives.

  4. Professional Development: Supporting accessible continuing education, mentorship, and practical guidance to help members navigate evolving regulatory and technological requirements.

  5. Future of the Profession: Addressing challenges related to housing, sustainability, emerging technologies, and the changing role of architects in the built environment.

Above all, Council should promote a culture of constructive dialogue, professional integrity, and evidence-based decision-making that serves the public interest and strengthens confidence in the architectural profession.
