Our Practice

G architects is a vibrant and growing practice, with its an office located in downtown Toronto, an Eastern Ontario office in Kingston, a Western Ontario office in London and Timmins. Our core sectors are seniors’, retirement and Long-term Care, mental health treatment, and non-acute healthcare environments.

Our work also includes life sciences, commercial, retail and post-secondary projects. Our studio environment encourages our team member’s professional growth and development through encouraging independence and autonomy, balanced with mentoring and support.

At G architects, we client service, dialogue, value, transparency, with sound project management in the design of our projects.

 

The Position

G architects depends on Architects to lead/ support teams and carry out projects and elements of projects; generally under the supervision of Senior Architects and Partners. Architects collaborate with others to design, execute and deliver great work that reflects G architects’ brand, design ethos, and technical capabilities. They are expected to consult with Senior Architects and team to solve design, technical, production, scope or client issues of which they become aware. The firm relies on Architects to develop excellent working relationships with clients, colleagues in the studio, consultants, and contractors. Project Architects are required to manage their project time, and meet the firm’s targets for deadlines and deliverables.

Architects report to Senior Architects and Partners, or others as assigned.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceive and design elements of moderate complexity, from design development to closeout

  • Strive for design impact through innovative and functional design

  • Use software and other tools creatively to enhance design, when appropriate

  • Develop high-quality components of drawing and documentation sets that are clear, accurate, comprehensive, and consistent

  • Strive to reduce rework, errors, and omissions

  • Initiate opportunities to increase the firm’s design capabilities

  • Proactively share design knowledge with other team members

  • Contribute to the development of systems and processes for improved design, technical quality, or client service

  • Create sound relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and suppliers to promote repeat business

  • Use software to deliver assignments on time and on budget

  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills

  • Planning, tracking, budgeting and reporting on staff resources and project profitability

 

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Revit software

  • Strong written and spoken English language skills, and interpersonal skills

  • Registered Architect with Ontario Association of Architects. Intern Architects who are registered in the OAA Intern program and near completion of their required experience hours will be considered.

  • Up to date COVID vaccination record

  • The place of work is in the London area

 

Additional assets

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, or Sketchup

  • Working knowledge of Project Management software (i.e. Wrike)

  • Work experience in a mid-sized Architect’s office

  • Work experience with institutional, life sciences or healthcare projects

 

Salary Range: 80,000 - 110,000 (Depending experience)
