“Find an Architect” to Increase Transparency for the Public
With the database upgrade now complete, there will soon be changes to the OAA Website’s “
Find an Architect” feature, which lists Architects, Licensed Technologists OAA, Intern Architects, Retired and Life Members, Student Associates, and others affiliated with the Association. To increase transparency for the general public, this directory will soon connect discipline decisions to members and practices.
In 2019, Council moved to link discipline history with individuals and practices in the Member Directory on the website. The decision ensures the architecture profession can be seen as a leader in transparency, accountability, and good governance, helping fulfil the OAA’s mandate to serve and protect the general public interest. This approach to online member registries has fast become the accepted practice for regulators.
The change is consistent with the OAA’s longstanding statutory obligation to ensure all discipline decisions are accessible to the public during business hours, marking the OAA’s commitment to ensuring this information is transparent and accessible. Now, members of the public will be able to access the same information online without having to contact the Office of the Registrar.
