Senior Project Architect

Job Position:  Sr. Project Architect

We are currently looking for a Senior Project Architect with over 10 years’ experience to develop and manage large-scale residential projects and its coordination from Design Development to Construction Documents. This is a full-time, in-studio position, with a salary range of $90-$120k per annum including 2 weeks’ paid vacation, a valuable benefits package and an optional RRSP program. To be a successful candidate you would need to demonstrate high levels of technical capabilities, strong Revit skills, high levels of development understanding and application approvals, and excellent ability to coordinate client, consultant meetings and mentoring of team members.

  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To act in a professional capacity representing Kirkor with clients and consultants
  • Analyze comments, instruction and direction from the Municipal Planning Authorities (MPA’s) and assess how they impact the project directly but also with respect to other consultants, and project timelines
  • Coordinate the development and execution of the necessary drawings and documents in response to comments, instruction and direction from the Municipal Planning Authorities (MPAs)
  • To anticipate from your experience, key planning and development issues early in a project which may impact the designs schedule, cost effectiveness, constructability, and be able to communicate those concerns to the Partners and Client
  • Oversee the preparation of project drawings through Design Development
  • Manage the preparation and coordination of project documentation towards Design Development, Building Permit, Sequential Tenders, Construction, and Review site revisions as required
  • Hosting project meetings with consultant teams to coordinate a more informative and unified voice before the client
  • Track the development and timing of resolutions by Kirkor and Consultant teams
  • Maintain and clearly understand a detailed inventory of evolving construction technologies, materials and liabilities
  • Commence the early phases of Construction Administration, including initial site meeting, field review, and revisions to drawings (as required)
  • Oversee the review of construction shop drawings for major building elements
  • Clearly understand the inherent responsibilities, obligations and liabilities of a Professional Architect

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate is preferred to be a licensed Architect in good standing, or ability to be licensed
  • Candidate must have at least 10 years’ experience with high-rise residential, high-residential with mixed use, and large scale multi-use developments
  • Experience with wood construction for mid-rise residential would be an asset
  • Must be experienced with the municipal approvals process in Ontario, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
  • Excellent knowledge of the application process and building codes for Ontario
  • Strong experience with large multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams, and is able to lead such teams (together with the Client and/or Constructor) through Design Development (DD) and Construction Documentation (CD)
  • Show considerable experience, as a more senior member of this profession, to mentor our ever-learning staff about the expectations and work involved to execute building designs
  • Strong understand the in/out-office workings of Construction Contract Administration (CA), including the processing and review of shop drawings, issuance of additional information and drawing revisions, and be comfortable providing their services at site meetings (with the Client and/or sub-trades), etc
  • Is required to have exceptional verbal and writing skills, and excellent Revit or other software skills or graphic abilities, such as Adobe, Bluebeam, or Dynamo
  • Good knowledge and use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Email and Calendar management abilities
