Heritage Retrofits: Information on Best Practice Dos and Don’ts

New Insulation Report from the OAA’s SBEC

Heritage masonry structures are not typically energy efficient, but it is environmentally and financially unrealistic to replace all of these time-tested buildings with new net-zero ones. Hence, intensive energy retrofitting of these buildings is a key part of achieving a zero-carbon, energy-neutral future while maintaining Ontario’s cultural and architectural heritage.

“Interior Insulation Retrofitting Heritage Masonry Buildings: Best Practice Dos & Don’ts” is a new report authored by architect Eric A. Charron and Randy Van Straaten, P.Eng., on behalf of the OAA’s Sustainable Built Environments Committee (SBEC). Click here to read the report.
