The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Ontario Chapter are co-organizing a construction adjudication symposium in Toronto on Wednesday, May 29.
The event, “Significant Change-Time for Alignment,” explores the development of prompt payment and construction adjudication in Canada and its wider potential use on federal government contracts. Speakers will examine what this means for construction in parallel with the U.K. experience over the last two decades.
For the dinner keynote talk, former Attorney General and Minister of Labour Yasir Naqvi will walk attendees through the process to rewrite the Construction Lien Act. During the symposium itself, Bruce Reynolds and Sharon C. Vogel of Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP (drafters of “Striking the Balance: Expert Review of the Construction Lien Act” and “Building a Federal Framework for Prompt Payment and Adjudication”) will also present. Other sessions will be chaired by Geza R. Benfai (McMillan LLP) and Glenn W. Ackerley (WeirFoulds LLP).
While tickets have sold out for the symposium, dinner keynote tickets and live-streaming options remain. For more information, click here.
