The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Ontario Chapter are co-organizing a construction adjudication symposium in Toronto on Wednesday, May 29.
The event, “Significant Change-Time for Alignment,” explores the development of prompt payment and construction adjudication in Canada and its wider potential use on federal government contracts. Speakers will examine what this means for construction in parallel with the U.K. experience over the last two decades.
Bruce Reynolds and Sharon C. Vogel of Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP (drafters of “Striking the Balance: Expert Review of the Construction Lien Act” and “Building a Federal Framework for Prompt Payment and Adjudication”) will present at the event. Other sessions will be chaired by Geza R. Benfai (McMillan LLP) and Glenn W. Ackerley (WeirFoulds LLP). Moderators include Marcia J. Oliver (Advocates LLP) and Richard Wong (Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP).
