Solares Architecture designs energy efficient, low carbon, custom homes. We are looking for an energetic and skilled Technologist or Intern Architect to join our team as a full-time Technologist at our Toronto office. To start November 1st, approximately

In this role, you will produce, check, and coordinate construction drawings for numerous projects. Our intention is that this position will evolve over time as your skills and experience grow, and with consideration to your career goals.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Be an advanced user of Revit Architecture.

  • Preference given to candidates who have the Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design designation

  • Candidates must have the following skills: 

    • Modelling topographic surfaces from imported CAD data

    • Producing presentation and construction drawings utilizing all available parametric and 3D drawing tools

    • Creating and modelling new Revit families

    • Creating new render ready materials including custom hatch patterns

    • Managing phased projects and associated drawing sets

• Have had some architectural work experience.

• Have a strong understanding of single-family residential construction practices.

• Be adept at multitasking and managing multiple projects at once.

• Be interested in a long-term position within this growing practice.

• Knowledge/experience with sustainable design practices is an asset.

Compensation range: $55,000-65,000 annual salary, depending on experience.

Revit Questionnaire

Please include answers to all the following questions with your application:

1. What is most recent version of Revit you've used?

2. If prior to 2024, are you aware of changes to Topography (TopoSolids vs. TopoSurfaces)? And have you used TopoSolids in a project?

3. What are your strengths within Revit?

4. What are your weaknesses (areas of improvement) within Revit?

5. What part of the modelling/construction drawing process do you find most challenging?

6. Have you ever developed a process/family to increase efficiency?

7. Do you have experience integrating external topographic information (CAD files, CSV files etc.)?

8. Are you familiar with any Revit Add-Ons such as PyRevit?

9. Have you used any Revit Rendering Programs such as Enscape, Lumion, or Twinmotion?

10. Are you familiar with or have experience with creating renderable materials (including custom hatch patterns)?

11. How comfortable are you with creating new Revit families (both drafting families and model families)? Do you have experience converting CAD files into drafting components? And Parametric Families?

12. A major part of our role includes coordinating consultants. In order to do this work effectively we also need accurate models. Have you modeled structural elements/components on past projects?

13. What is your Revit troubleshooting process like? Where do you look for assistance?

14. What sources do you use when looking for Revit families?

15. Do you have any experience with using LiDAR to measure and model existing buildings (Canvas etc.)?
