I agree with our President that interns should be paid a salary or wage that is commensurate with their ability. This would apply to any profession and failure to do so would lead to abuse by the employers. I would go as far as recommending a schedule of remuneration dependent upon experience and proven ability.

The Profession might also label it as "disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional" for an architect employer to hire an intern for little or no pay and deem it an act of professional misconduct. This would truly be in line with the Presidents efforts to amend the Employment Standards Act.
