Responsibilities are to see that accounting policies and internal controls are established and followed. In addition, this committee ensures that OAA issues financial statements are balanced and present a reasonable assessment of the association's financial position.
The mandate of the ExAC Committee is to ensure the proper administration of the ExAC throughout Canada as well as the updating of the examination. The ExAC Committee has all authority regarding the content and the administration of the ExAC subject to the Agreement Protocol and to the approved Terms of Reference.
The representative will provide input and insight from the perspective of the OAA to the CNEA and report back to OAA Council as required with respect to the views and issues brought forth by the CNEA Board of Directors on any issues requiring direct input or a formal position from the OAA.
Key Objective is to strengthen OAA communication and outreach programs and activities authorized or directed by Council.
Investigates complaints made by members of the public or members of the Association regarding the conduct or actions of any member of the Association or holder of a Certificate of Practice or a Temporary Licence.
The Complaints Review Councillor (CRC) reviews the procedures used by the Compliants Committee during their investigation of a complaint, however the CRC does not have the authority to review the merits or substance of a case. Upon receipt of the decision of the Complaints Committee an individual may apply to the CRC for a review of the treatment of the complaint.
Provides direction on the annual conference and plans for future conferences.
Provides guidance and direction to the ConEd Program, establishes learning objectives for Continuing Education Cycles and recommends policies and strategies to Council.
The OAA is governed by a Council of 15 architects elected by the membership, and five members of the public appointed by the Province of Ontario. Council sets policy direction for the Association.
The Committee Members make up the formal tribunals that hears allegations of professional misconduct against a member of the Association, holder of a Certificate of Practice or a holder of a Temporary Licence. Referral can be made from the Complaints Committee or Council.
Gives direction with respect to the funds held under the direction of the OAA Trust Fund and reviews the procedures for the dispersement of funds for the OAA scholarships /awards.
Liaison group created to deal with issues of mutual concern and interest between the three parties. The group works to find common positions or industry standards/practices on certain elements of the design and construction industry.
Upon referral by the Registrar or by Council, the Experience Requirements Committee (ERC) conducts interviews to assess the Experience submitted by applicants for Licence.
The mandate of the International Relations Committee is to represent the Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities in ongoing, as well as future, discussions and initiatives related to international relations, specifically mutual recognition of certification as well as trade and labour mobility arrangements and agreements with jurisdictions outside of Canada.
The Committee was established to discuss common issues and concerns at a strategic level.
Evaluates and recommends short term requirements and long term prospects for the OAA Building Headquarters.
Members of Council whose mandate is to confirm that the scholarships and awards held in a trust fund have been dispersed appropriately for the previous year. The trustees also approve procedures for awarding of architectural guild medals for the year.
The OAAAS Board serves as a forum for establishing the education, experience and examination requirements as well as scope of practice for Licensed Technologists.
The representative will provide input on behalf of the architectural profession with respect to matters being considered by the OACETT Board.
The Committee coordinates the means in which specific issues and concerns that are political in nature are addressed, i.e. requiring discussion with various levels of governments. It identifies emerging issues in our industry specifically related to the practice of architecture in Ontario and coordinating the advancement of those issues in order that practices have a fair and transparent condition in which to operate. The Committee coordinates existing and future ongoing OAA committees' and sub-committees' work toward achieving maximum effectiveness through the monitoring of priories and inter-communication. It identifies methods of gathering information about issues, advancing concerns, and initiatives to governments and the membership.
Reviews practice related issues, both regulatory and business related that impact on day-to-day architectural practice.
The representative will provide input from the perspective of the OAA and report back to OAA Council with respect to views and issues brought forth by the Pro-Demnity Insurance Board.
This Committee of Council addresses potential complaints where the complainant cannot or will not file a written complaint and determine whether or not there are sufficient grounds for a formal complaint. The Complaint will be dealt with through the OAA Complaints Process.
When the Registrar proposes to refuse an application for licence, certificate of practice or temporary licence; proposes to suspend or revoke a certificate of practice or temporary licence; or, proposes to issue a licence, certificate of practice or temporary licence with terms, conditions and limitations, the applicant may request a hearing before the Registration Committee. The Committee hears the matter and makes a determination as to the proposal by the Registrar.
Key objective is to move the profession back into a leadership role in development and implementation by government of codes, regulations affecting building design and construction
Established by Council to serve in an advisory role regarding matters of sustainable design and environmental issues as they relate to the design and building industry. The Committee defines, analyzes, reviews and assesses areas which the OAA can focus on in order to demonstrate leadership from the architectural profession on this emerging and important area of practice.
