    Q4A is looking to expand our team and require an Architect with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience to run and manage current and future projects for our clients. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects with the majority being in residential design of mid- and high-rise buildings.

    Salary is based on experience.


    • Must have residential experience and demonstrated expertise in wood framed structures and other structural components, including both lightweight and structural steel, as well as concrete
    • Licensed to practice architecture in Ontario
    • Must have extensive project management experience
    • Experienced in and capable of delivering both design and working drawings
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Highly motivated with superb interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities
    • Has established connections in the Toronto architecture/design community and is interested in attending events and developing Q4A's brand


    • Professional degree in architecture: B.Arch or M.Arch (Preferred)
    • LEED Accreditation (Preferred)


    • Architectural Design & Design Development: 10 years (Required)
    • Project Management: 10 years (Required)

    Duties include:

    • Must be able to create a complex building design from initial planning and Schematic Design through Construction Administration
    • Works with clients to gather facts, defines design and space planning problems, conceptualize possible solutions and secure approvals of proposals
    • Reviews product literature, analyzes materials and determines appropriateness for application to projects
    • Develops conceptual design documents, including master planning, preliminary design, and development, architectural, interior design and space planning solutions
    • Is comfortable dealing with multiple stakeholders (municipal authorities, planners, engineers, and contractors, etc.)
    • Leads contract administration process and works with stakeholders to ensure that the appropriate hand-offs take place, to ensure that the design intent is followed through to the completion of construction
    • Performs full coordination of sub-consultants
    • Is proficient in communicating graphically, ideas in design and making drawings primarily in Revit
    • Designs projects and review architectural or engineering plans, specifications and contract documents to ensure compliance with government codes, laws, and regulations
    • Advises Subcontractors on the interpretation of building plans and, recommends changes when necessary
    • Prepares and reviews preliminary designs, working drawings, specifications and cost estimates related to the project
    • Researches literature and maintain knowledge of current building materials, structural, mechanical and electrical system codes and methods of application
    • Reviews Subcontractor's shop drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and contract agreements by checking them for technical accuracy according to accepted guidelines
    • Performs design drafting including preliminary drawings, working drawings and full detail drawings for architectural works associated with building construction or improvement projects
    • Is technically knowledgeable and up to date with current building science and architectural detailing
