Various LEARNING HOURS

Location: Hamilton
Provider: National Trust for Canada / La Fiducie nationale du Canada

Be part of Canada’s biggest heritage conservation learning and networking event!

For the first time, Canada’s national heritage conference is coming to Hamilton. It offers an exciting opportunity to exchange ideas with over 500 participants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including architects, planners, developers, government officials, volunteers, educators and students.

Heritage Rising will explore the cutting-edge of heritage thought and practice – in Canada and abroad, urban and rural – including Indigenous heritage, community revitalization, the business of heritage, and climate change. Heritage Rising will feature three jam-packed days of thought-provoking plenary speakers and sessions, skill-building workshops and field sessions, and inspiring special events.

Architects will find rich opportunities for professional development with sessions on heritage engineering, conservation technology, architectural philosophy, and the challenges of adaptive reuse. Join expert workshops and field sessions on such topics as innovative heritage inventories and conserving decorative metal and terracotta.

Also not to be missed, the Hamilton Indigenous Heritage Roundtable 2016 - "Going Beyond Consultation: Navigating Worldviews in the Search for Meaningful Engagement."

The National Trust for Canada is a national charity created in 1973 that inspires and leads action to save historic places, and promotes the care and wise use of our historic environment.
