Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Wednesday, May 22 at the Quebec City Convention Centre. The evening’s master of ceremonies, Alain Rabeau, introduced OAA President Kathleen Kurtin who helped present Heather Dubbeldam—this year’s winner of the G. Randy Roberts Service Award. The event also served to celebrate both Members of Long Standing and past Councillors.
Kurtin addressed the membership, highlighting the OAA’s recent accomplishments and initiatives. She spoke about this year’s Council priorities: the education continuum (and financial literacy), membership engagement and inclusivity and equity throughout the profession. Senior Vice President and Treasurer Walter Derhak presented the financial outlook while Pro-Demnity Insurance chair Hari Panday offered an overview and also introduced Bruce Palmer, the company’s new president and CEO. Special acknowledgement and thanks was extended to Byron Treves as he retires from his post at ProDem after 33 years of services. Treves received a standing ovation.
Those in attendance received an AGM booklet that lists those who were honoured at the ceremony and also names members who had passed away over the previous year. The booklet also includes the names of all the newly licensed Architects and Licensed Technologists OAA. To read it, click here
