Welland Canal Park: A Journey Through Forgotten History

Niagara This Week - St. Catharines

April 2, 2019

Mike Zettel

"It may have been an exercise in the abstract, but St. Catharines native David Donnelly hopes that his design project envisioning a park in the remnants of the third Welland Canal sparks some real-life interest in the long-neglected piece of the city's industrial history.
Donnelly, a 25-year-old intern with Hamilton-based Thier + Curran Architects Inc., developed the plans while obtaining his masters at Montreal's McGill University, and an updated version of them was selected by the Ontario Association of Architects for its first-ever SHIFT Infrastructure/Architecture Challenge."
