Training in workplace sexual harassment has been mandatory under the Ontario Health and Safety Act for almost two years now. In the course offered, this important topic is explored through animated stories of staff and managers of a hypothetical organization. Comprising four 10-minute animated episodes and interactive exercises, the course is delivered online and can be completed via smartphones, tablets or computer. Progress is tracked, and participants receive a certification confirming completion. OAA members may self-report one hour of structured learning.
In 2017, the OAA Safe Work Places Committee developed Supporting Safe Work Places: A Guide for Members of the Ontario Association of Architects, which provides direction to all members regarding their legal rights and responsibilities in maintaining and working in a safe workplace, free from harassment and violence. Intended for employers and employees alike, the guide is available under Policies  on the “Resources for Architects and Practices” section of the OAA Website. Please take time to review this important information and ensure you are in compliance with the law.
