GILCHRIST, David William Architect, OAA, (March 29, 1949 - June 4, 2016) died at home surrounded by family on June 4, 2016. David was many things; husband, father, grandfather, brother, runner, architect and friend. A successful triathlete and marathon runner, he finished the Boston Marathon in the spring of 2014. He was passionate about architecture, his chosen career. David’s legacy is preserved in the buildings he designed around Sarnia. Family was first and foremost with David, he was an avid supporter of his children’s sports, education and achievements. In his youth he was a queen scout, and enjoyed camping, hiking and outdoor activities, passions he shared with his children. David was 67 years old. Beloved husband of Lori Kolano. Much-loved father of Erin (Ian), Brett (Mariko), Tyler (Janet), Sarah, and Kate. Cherished grandfather of Sykora, Alyssa, Noah, Kenji, and Akio. Loving son of William and the late Louise. Dear brother of Robert and Neil. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, June 10, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to join the family for a luncheon at Smith Family Centre following the service.
