The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) is requesting Expressions of Interest from Ontario-based, qualified, creative, and expert Website Development and Design companies to complete an audit and redesign of the existing Website. The project is scheduled to begin in spring 2018 and proposed to be completed by December 2019.
The Website is the Association’s main Communications vehicle. The current vision for the site is almost 10 years old. Somewhat outdated in its structure, use of technology and presentation of content, the Website no longer aligns with the priorities of the organization. The objective is to design a site that better reflects the Association’s current goals, while using the latest web technology.
Priorities for the 2018 - 2019 Redesign
The following are the main priorities and objectives to be addressed in the Website Redesign Project:
- Accessibility Standards
Update the Website to ensure Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Standards are met by 2020/21. Development of the website should take into account the Accessible Graphic Standards from the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) of Ontario together with the designer and developer for the site.
- Public vs. Member information
Restructure the site to better meet the objectives of member support and public awareness, creating a clear distinction between public and member content. The Microsite will also be part of this discussion as to how it fits into the overall web strategy.
- Content Audit + Technology Review
Audit to create a framework for the modifications to the site and in anticipation of future technologies, platforms and social media (e.g. apps, links, platforms [smart phone]) to best inform the specification for the redesign.
- Content Management System
Update the system to increase efficiency and align with design standards. The management system should allow staff to update and modify information and content easily after the initial launch.
Present information in a dynamic, engaging and user-friendly manner (through RSS feeds, multimedia embeds, graphics, imagery, video and other mediums). The site must be visually engaging but also allow staff to easily update content and modify site design after the initial launch.
- Bilingual Content
Assess the design of a bilingual Website and how both English and French language can be accommodated.
Expressions of Interest should include:
- Company Contact Information (Name, Mailing Address, Website, telephone, e-mail and contact person)
- Company Description and History
- Project Team
- Relevant Project Experience
- Company Methodology - Provide a brief statement of how your company approaches projects. In your statement include what sets your company apart from others.
- Additional Information - Any additional information to support your qualifications.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please e-mail Expressions of Interest to Administrator, Website and Communications, Tamara King by March 7, 2018. Selected candidates will be notified by March 9 to complete a more detailed Request for Proposal.
