The University of Toronto is pleased to invite the members of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) to participate in a research study entitled “A Multidisciplinary Approach to Sustainable Stormwater Management Design”.
The purpose of this research is to explore the role of the architect, landscape architect and engineer in sustainable stormwater management design, with a particular focus on low-impact development (LID). Although there are many benefits to LID, there has been slow uptake of these technologies due to both technical and institutional (cultural, economic, regulatory, education and awareness etc.) barriers. This research will identify the nature of the barriers preventing effective design of sustainable stormwater management between architects, landscape architects, and engineers and use the research to develop methods or strategies for improving collaboration between these disciplines in both the professional and academic setting to improve the uptake of sustainable stormwater management practices in Ontario.
